A Bolder Vision

Is your Vision equal to this moment?

Storms of all kinds are all around us—political, environmental, organizational. The old maps and methods don’t work anymore.

I’ve learned that the people and communities that will thrive when things fall apart aren’t the ones with perfect plans. They’re the ones who lean into curiosity, are able to sit with uncertainty, and find ways to work together.

I’ve weathered my share of storms and know that the stories we tell about them when they arrive shape the futures we have available to live…

If you are trying to change something, don’t fight the existing reality… build new models that make the old ones obsolete.

Shape Your Future by Sculpting Your Story…

I’ve distilled everything I’ve learned over decades from scholars, and elders, and ancestors about how stories shape what we can see as possible into a potent alchemical practice.

StorySculpting begins from the belief that the stories we inhabit directly, materially shape what we can see, do, and become.

Changing the story changes what’s possible.

The StorySculpting practice meets everyone where they are and offers a series of archetypal lenses— each rooted in different traditions of human wisdom — for excavating, examining, and sculpting the narratives that are already shaping your life.

The stories we tell shape the futures we have available to live.

Your life circumstance or current calling tells you which feels most timely or resonant and shows you where to begin. Each one is a facet. Some people may work with all of them at depth. Others may take what’s useful and integrate it with their own wisdom traditions or practices.

StorySculpting is not a product or an offer, but a practice best undertaken in community.  I am here to witness, offer, support, and guide your inquiry, but you are the expert on your life and lineage.  I consider myself a fellow traveler on the journey.

Whether you’re navigating a major transition, building something new, or simply sensing that the story you’ve been living no longer fits who you are becoming, mapping the stories you already carry and consciously crafting the future can be a potent practice.

About Jen

For 30 years I have lived at the intersection of narrative, leadership, and change.

I have lived through my own undoings and guided others through theirs.

From board meetings to community breakfasts and side conversations to stakeholder symposia, I’ve learned again and again that we can’t build the future we dream of from inside old ways of seeing.

The stories we tell shape the futures we have available to live.

For any change to be possible, we have to learn to let go of what we think we know, and step into the kind of radical curiosity that is the only place from which new ideas can be born.

Change the story, and you begin to change what is possible.

Whether you are navigating a big transition, building something new, sensing that the story you’ve been living no longer fits who you are becoming, or are ready to give a transformation you’ve already lived its full voice, looking at your story in a new light, from a fresh angle, or with a new perspective hands you back the pen and reminds you that you are the author of your story.

I know many of you are going through your own big undoings right now.  You are not alone.

I hope you will find and follow me so that we can write the futures we want to belong to into being.

In Zen Buddhism a KOAN is a mantra that reveals the inadequacy of logic for reaching enlightenment. It is also a Bold Vision for new ways of living and working together.

I am living my own practice of sitting with uncertainty, building new connections, remembering that humans have always solved our biggest problems most creatively in community. I’m writing a lot and sharing bits of it on Medium. The journeys that have brought each of us here have given us so much wisdom, and we’re all just walking each other home… Are you ready to sculpt your own story?
